A total of 29 buses take our students to and from the centre each day. The transport is organised at the start of the school year, taking into account the families’ suggestions for catering to the existing needs and improving the service.
From Monday to Thursday there is an additional transport service for the extracurricular activities.
The Ikastola Management also ensures that the service documentation is up to date for maximum safety of the transport.
The meals eaten at the Ikastola are prepared in its own kitchen, and they contemplate all the special dietary needs acknowledged by registered medical practitioners.
A fully-guaranteed catering company is in charge of deciding and supplying the menu options, in accordance with dietary and nutritional principles and observing health and hygiene standards for food preparation.
As to the monitoring and management of the canteen, for Pre-primary and Primary the teachers and a team of auxiliary staff look after the children. For Secondary and Post-Secondary, this work is done by collaborators.
Menu audits are carried out every two years, with a view to improving the work done in the kitchen and canteen. As a result, the following improvements have been made:
Lauaxeta Ikastola’s Bertoko Plan is one of the key features of the canteen. This Plan consists of a commitment to increasing the percentage of products on the menu obtained from local, non-industrial suppliers. Click on the link below to find out more about the Bertoko Plan.
Healthy eating is something that is learnt on a day-to-day basis, so each year we run a training plan about how the canteen is managed for students of different age groups. It includes the following activities, among others:
The ikastola offers a service for acquiring the necessary learning materials for each level (iPads, computers, books, etc.), at special bulk purchase prices.
A maintenance service is also offered for technology devices acquired via the ikastola, so that the families do not have to worry about this aspect.
The ikastola also provides a photocopying service throughout the school year.
